Burnthwaite - B&B on a working farm at the foot of the mountains
Burnthwaite is the closest accommodation to Kirkfell, Great Gable and Sty Head Pass, a gateway to the surrounding mountains including the Scafell massif, and after a day's walk just five minutes from the local food and drink served at Ritson's Bar at Wasdale Head Inn, the birthplace of British climbing
Burnthwaite Farm is a working farm with both cattle and sheep. Situated at the head of the Wasdale Valley, the farm covers part of the flat valley floor and a large area of upland fells.
The sheep are traditional Lakeland Herdwicks
Burnthwaite has been a farm since the 1600's and taking guests since the 1700's as people travelled east on the pack horse route over Styhead Pass.
