At the time of publishing the Google Maps link at the bottom of this page, I have reported to Google (8 times!) that Burnthwaite Farm B&B is actually in the wrong place on the map. The pin is showing that we are the farm next to the pub, this is incorrect! We are actually the farm at the top of the track past St Olaf's church.

Burnthwaite, Wasdale Head, Seascale, CA2O 1EX, United Kingdom.

Sat Nav doesn't work particularly well in Wasdale Head as we all share the same postcode! Plus, the chances of it taking you over some pretty hairy fell passes are high. So, if you'd prefer a simpler route, here you go...

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH
If you can navigate to the M6 north, you need to leave the motorway at Junction 36, signposted Kendal and the South Lakes, onto the A590.
Follow the A590 and turn right at Greenodd, onto the A5092 heading towards Broughton in Furness where you should join the A595 travelling north along the west coast.
Continue for some miles on the A595 to Holmrook, where you should eventually find signs to Wasdale Head and Santon Bridge on your right. (Holmrook is also the last place where you will be able to re-fuel the car).

The roads become much narrower at this point so watch out for sheep and large puddles that may contain deep potholes.
At Santon Bridge look for the Wasdale Head sign, (if unsure, there is an inn nearby to ask for directions), and continue for a further 7 or 8 miles. You will follow the lakeshore for some distance and eventually you will arrive at Wasdale Head Village Green (people use this area as a car park). The road continues to Wasdale Head Inn, but if you turn right, cross the green, you will find a farm track beside Lingmell House (the house that stands alone in the corner of the green). The track is approx. half a mile long, passing a small church and will bring you right up to Burnthwaite Farm.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH
If you can navigate to the A66, travel towards the west, (Workington and Whitehaven).
Join the A595 travelling south along the west coast passing by Whitehaven (petrol stations) and Egremont.

Continue for some miles through Calder Bridge and New Mill, turning left for Gosforth, signed Gosforth, Wasdale, Eskdale.
Turn left at the mini roundabout, through Gosforth past the shops.
Bear left where the road forks for Santon Bridge and Eskdale, where you should find signs to Wasdale Head.

The roads start to become narrower so watch out for sheep and large puddles that may contain deep potholes.
Continue for a further 6 or 7 miles, bearing left at the Wastwater Lake junction. Follow the lakeshore road for approx. 3 miles and eventually you will arrive at Wasdale Head Village Green (people use this area as a car park).

The road continues to Wasdale Head Inn, but if you turn right, cross the green, you will find a farm track beside Lingmell House(the house that stands alone in the corner of the green). The track is approx. half a mile long, passing a small church and will bring you right up to Burnthwaite Farm.
